G.C. Alum and Trustee Sandra Boileau Presented Distinguished Alumni
Award by University of Illinois College of Education
GREENVILLE, Ill. - After teaching, counseling, and serving in administrative
positions in education since graduating from Greenville College
in 1961, Sandra (Maxwell) Boileau's contributions to the field of
education were noted earlier this month as she was awarded a Distinguished
Alumni Award by the college of education at the University of Illinois.
Boileau is currently a member of the board of trustees at Greenville
College.
According to Susan Fowler, dean of the college of education at
the University of Illinois, each of the five award recipients have
"improved the lives of their students, the quality of their
schools, and their communities."
Boileau is the associate vice president for adult and continuing
education at Parkland College in Champaign. She has become known
as a person who demonstrates "a natural graciousness that puts
people at ease and facilitates collaboration and cooperation,"
said a Parkland colleague.
A resident of Champaign, Boileau is active in various volunteer
opportunities for her community, church, and profession. She currently
serves as president of the Illinois Council of Continuing Higher
Education.
Boileau's undergraduate degree from Greenville College was in education
and psychology. She finished her master's degree in counseling psychology
in 1963 at the University of Illinois before returning to the University
of Illinois to earn an administrative certificate in 1984 and an
advanced degree in educational administration in 1987.
