FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 04/02/03
Charley’s Aunt Promises Laughter at Factory Theatre, April
8-12
Greenville, IL—The Greenville College Factory Theatre has
chosen Charley’s Aunt by Brandon
Thomas for the spring play, which opens next week, April 8-12.
Set
in Oxford, England, in the late 1800’s, Charley’s Aunt
is a wacky comedy which involves mistaken identities, long-lost
loves, and plenty of high-spirited confusion and fun.
Jack is madly in love with Kitty. Charley is hopelessly enamored
of Amy. When the two Oxford students find themselves without the
required chaperone to entertain the two young ladies, they dress
their reluctant classmate as Charley’s aunt from Brazil, “where
the nuts come from,” to chaperone the rendezvous. The unexpected
arrival of Charley’s real aunt results in chaos and side-splitting
laughter.
In addition to high speed energy and precision timing by the actors,
the show also features three different elaborate sets and gorgeous
Victorian costumes. Suitable for ages seven to seventy, Charley’s
Aunt is certain to delight the entire family.
The Factory Theatre is located in the Kelsey Building on Harris
Avenue in Greenville, Illinois. Show times are April 8-12 at 7:30
p.m. Tickets are available for $6 at Watson’s Drugstore and
Family Christian Stores.
